Working in Higher Education can feel a bit...discombobulating and even lonely at times. Friends and family can listen but if they don't work in HE they just won't 'get it'.
That's why I've created Wayfinders.
It's a mentoring community for HE professionals who want a supportive place to go and share worries, find inspiration and figure out a way through the wide and varied challenges that HE presents.
Introducing: Wayfinders Mentoring Community
It's a rolling monthly membership that will show you how to:Â
- redefine your views, opinions and beliefs about yourself and what you're capable of
- find the courage and confidence to redefine what âsuccessâ means to you
- develop your own courage based plans
- lean into a community of like minded HE professionals
This community is fundamentally about supporting you to find the best way for you to approach whatever you've got going on each week.
This is personal AND professional development.
It's not just another generic professional development programme. It's trauma-informed, person-centred and HERA informed to make it sector specific for Higher Education.Â
Oh, and there are some juicy bonuses too:
- I've included a self-paced mini course packed full of exercises to help you figure out who you are at this point in your life and what it is that you really want. (Fair warning, it's a few years old now and the lighting in the videos is terrible - the content is good through).
- Plus you can combine this with Strategy Hour to give you time to plan and time to get things done.
Is this for you?
This could be a great fit for you if you're feeling a bit stuck in your career or perhaps something has shaken your confidence lately.Â
âMy suspicion is that you're looking for help to untangle your thoughts and figure out how to move forward. You're quietly ambitious but the next roles in the structure aren't what you're looking for. And even if you do know what you want to do next, it scares you, so you aren't taking action. Perhaps it's gotten so bad that you aren't even sure if you're doing a good job in the role you currently have.
It might be that your boss is kind of absent, overwhelmed with their own stresses or a lot more senior than you. Or maybe they're an academic who doesn't really get what you do.
Perhaps you've tried getting a mentor in your institution but they're so busy you either never see them or you feel bad for bothering them.
Perhaps you've done some training via your local L&D team but it's only ever short term and pretty generic so you can't apply it in your specific circumstances.
Perhaps you've been doing lots of thinking or reading but everything feels a bit... squirrly still (yep, I made that word up but you know what it feels like, right).
You might even have chatted with your Ai of choice but you feel like you're going round in circles or you have to explain everything from scratch each time. Plus, it doesn't really help with the loneliness, does it?
The common thread is: you're feeling unsure and you desperately want to feel more sure of yourself.
How you feel makes complete sense and you're not alone. With a little support, I know you can find your way to more clarity and confidence.
âThat's why I've created Wayfinders, a mentoring community for Professional Services staff in Higher Education.  I want to support and nurture you so that you can excel in your role and feel better in yourself.Â
âBut make no mistake, it's about more than just having a place to go to complain about your boss.Â
It's more than just another training programme. This is tailored support for your individual challenges from me, a dedicated HE Management Coach and self-belief specialist, and a group of lovely, supportive peers from across the sector. But don't panic, the group(s) will be intimate enough that your voice will be heard and you'll get the support you crave.
Inside Wayfinders you will learn
- That you actually have all of the answers inside you already, it's more about how to find them.
- How and why fear and worry are keeping you stuck.
- How to put those fears and worries into perspective and build more helpful beliefs about what is possible for you.
- How to follow your feeling of âyesâ to identify what you want.
- How to make courageous plans to move forward that, while courageous, also feel doable. This is about stretching the edges of your comfort zone, not busting right through those edges and throwing you into a stress based fight or flight response.
- How to get into action with the most easy, doable next steps.
The details you need
During term time there will be weekly group calls every Friday. These are here to give you some structure and accountability. You'll get mentoring from me but also support and suggestions from the other group members.Â
There will be no live calls during the month of August.
You will have access to replays of all calls including captions via an online portal.
Youâll have access to the course content, resources and call replays for the lifetime of the programme so you can go through everything at your own pace and come back to it again and again.
This is about supporting you to develop the skill, strategy and most importantly, the beliefs that will support your professional development at every stage of your higher education career.
And if you want some tailored 1:1 support then you can book a coaching call with me on a reduced pay as you go rate.Â
